Lawrence first put together the collection of his poems in 1928. They are arranged chronologically "to make up a biography of an emotional and inner life".

"Birds, Beasts and Flowers" is a collection of poetry by the English author D. H. Lawrence, first published in 1923. The poems in the collection include some of Lawrence's finest reflections on the "otherness" of the non-human world.
