She begins with an intriguing tour through the history of the mirror, from its origins in prehistory right up to the present. With the help of 200 spectacular photographs, she demonstrates the many remarkable ways in which mirror has been used over the past three centuries to transform spaces of every size and shape. Using dozens of examples, ranging from the Palace at Versailles to a modern shoe store in New York City, she describes techniques developed by architects and designers to alter perspectives and change the way people respond to both private and public spaces. Ms. Heyne explores the use of mirror in a variety of settings - from bedrooms, living rooms, exercise rooms, and nurseries, to restaurants, lobbies, clothing stores, and hospitals. She offers valuable technical advice on the uses and misuses of mirror in a wide variety of settings and summarizes what is known about the psychological impact of mirror in each setting.

Extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography is a next generation platform with the potential to extend Moore's Law. The EUV mirror is a fundamental component of this system. Efficient Extreme Ultraviolet Mirror Design describes an approach to designing EUV mirrors with reduced computational time and memory requirements, providing a comprehensive grounding in the fundamentals of the EUV mirror and knowledge of the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The discussion is made timely by the opening of commercial avenues for the application of EUV as it begins to be implemented in the development of 5G, AI, edge computing, VR and the Internet of Things. This book explores the theory, function and fabrication of EUV mirrors, as well as the correlation between design by Fresnel's equations and design by photonic bands, and develops a rigorous and efficient FDTD method by applying these considerations to three simulation cases. Intended primarily for EUV industry professionals, Efficient Extreme Ultraviolet Mirror Design will be of particular use to researchers investigating large scale problems or near-field scattering problems in EUV lithography. It will serve as an excellent reference text for anyone working in or studying optical engineering, as well as a high-level introduction for researchers from other fields interested in photolithography and the FDTD method. Key Features Addresses knowledge of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) mirrors and EUV lithography. Establishes a relation between photonic bands and Fresnel's equation. Introduces the high reflectivity EUV mirror design rules. Applies numerical simulation for EUV mirror design. Details efficient finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) approach.

The book "Lunda Geometry" explains how the mathematical concepts of mirror curves and Lunda-designs were discovered in the context of the author's research of 'sona', illustrations traditionally made in the sand by Cokwe storytellers from eastern Angola (a region called Lunda) and neighboring regions of Congo and Zambia. Examples of mirror curves from several cultures are presented. Lunda-designs are aesthetically attractive and display interesting symmetry properties. Examples of Lunda-patterns and Lunda-polyominoes are presented. Some generalizations of the concept of Lunda-design are discussed, like hexagonal Lunda-designs, Lunda-k-designs, Lunda-fractals, and circular Lunda-designs. Lunda-designs of Celtic knot designs are constructed.Several chapters were published in journals like 'Computers & Graphics' (Oxford), 'Visual Mathematics' (Belgrade), and 'Mathematics in School' (UK).

A visual portrait that delves into the people and processes behind self-recorded music, featuring some of the biggest names in music today. Everywhere you look, musicians are creating, recording, and selling their music without the help of big-name studios, producers, or labels. This book offers tangible--and visually stunning--proof that self-recording is a path to artistic freedom. Each chapter takes on a specific aspect of self-recording through original interviews with musicians and all new photography, revealing the joys and complications of recording music on one's own terms. You'll learn how some of your favorite musicians charted their path to self-recording and how they use emerging technologies to make exceptional music. The book features intimate shots of artists recording in living rooms, backyards, and garages--such as Eleanor Friedberger, Mac DeMarco, Vagabon, Tune-Yards, Yuka Honda, and more. The first book devoted entirely to the practice of self-recording, Mirror Sound charts a way forward for any musician who aspires to make their own music and those who just love to listen.
