This work consists of a collection of articles translated from German, which originally appeared in the well-known nineteenth century German-American historical journal, Der Deutshe Pionier, published in Cincinnati by the German Pioneer Society, and which was edited for the greater part of its existence by H.A. Rattermann. This work concentrates on the pre-1848, or pioneer period, of Kentucky's German heritage.
