Zoe Luce is a successful interior designer in the Arizona town of Whispering Springs who's developed an unusual career specialty-helping recently divorced clients redesign their homes, to help them forget the past and start anew. But Zoe knows that some things can't be covered up with a coat of paint. And when she senses that one of her clients may be hiding a dark secret, she enlists P.I. Ethan Truax to find the truth. Working together, they solve the mystery . . . and barely escape with their lives. But Ethan's exquisite detection skills are starting to backfire on Zoe: she never wanted to let him find out about her former life; she never wanted to reveal her powerful, inexplicable gift for sensing the history hidden within a house's walls; she never wanted him to know that "Zoe Luce" doesn't really exist. She never wanted to fall in love with him. Now, no matter how much she resists, Ethan may be her only hope-because the people she's been running from have found her. And just when Zoe dares to dream of a normal life and a future with the man she loves, her own past starts to shadow her every step-and threatens to take her back into a nightmare.

I just saved the boy I’m falling for from a gruesome death by a demon. And what does he have to say? I’m the key to opening the gates of Hell. I mean, a thank-you would’ve been nice. Or another scorching-hot, forbidden kiss. Either way, destiny will have to find someone else to torment, because I’m so done. Or I was, until my little sister starts cackling exorcist-style and stares at me with eyes that aren’t hers. They’re Marid’s, the Greater Demon I just kicked back to the dark realm he came from. Possessing Ray whenever he wants is his ultimate revenge. The only way to break the tether between them includes a road trip through Hell, aka the Ather. I quickly discover nothing is as it seems in this place. Yeah, there are realms of terror, greed, and desire, but there’s also peace, and a beauty I never knew existed...and it’s eerily familiar. With each obstacle we encounter, I slip a little further into the chaotic energy of my growing dark powers. And when an unexpected betrayal hits me square in the chest, I freefall into them. Fate painted me as the monster of nightmares, and after this? Destiny is about to learn just how monstrous I can be. The Ember of Night series is best enjoyed in order. Women in Shadow and Light offers an intimate glimpse of forty women?ages nineteen to ninety-five?who found the courage to triumph over trauma. Photographs combine with text to portray the essence of each woman's journey from the violence of sexual and physical abuse to transformation and healing. Jan Goff-LaFontaine's original photography exhibit, Out of the Shadows, started in rural Door County, Wisconsin, but eventually led her to subjects across the nation as she sought to complete this book. Each woman helped create her own portrait as a personal symbol of healing, often focusing on one aspect of her body she felt was most affected in the healing process.

Book 1 of 3- A contemporary fiction novel that touches on many different genres- fantasy, suspense, historical and more. Great for YA/Adult readers. This book is filled with thought provoking imagery that will change your view of people in your life. Books 2 & 3 to be released soon. If you had the ability to change someone's fate would you? Excerpt: Vivid dreams plagued me throughout the night; I could only vaguely remember the earlier ones, but the last nightmare had woken me abruptly this morning leaving me gasping for air. It had started simply enough, I was walking through a long meadow, my hands outstretched, brushing the waist high grass. The sun was warm on my face. It was summertime, and I wore a thin blue cotton dress adorned with tiny white flowers, wide straps across my shoulders, the material tickling my calves. My hair was long and caught in a warm breeze, the chocolate brown tendrils spinning like a kite tail behind me. Gabriel materialized in the field, his blue eyes matching the bright sky. His smile was mesmerizing, his skin glowing. It was a radiant shine that brightened the day even more. He wore brown pants and a plain white cotton shirt with no collar that was open at the throat as if the clothes were from a different time. When I noticed him, his hands reached for me. I started towards his direction, slowly at first and then picking up speed. The grass swished around me, and it was soft under my bare feet. The faster I went the further away he was. He encouraged me, "Run, Jenna." I smiled and tried to sprint. My foot became tangled in the grass, and I spilled forward, twisting, and the meadow cushioned my fall. He was beside me in an instant, catching my head before it hit the earth. His right hand grabbed mine, clutching it to his chest in a tender embrace. Gabriel's face was over the top of mine, a concerned worry pulling his mouth into a frown. I dissolved into a fit of giggles, and he laughed with me. He stared at me with such a longing; I shivered even now. Gabriel's expression became serious, and before I could question him, he kissed me. I relished his warm lips as they push against mine, capturing the moment like a photograph in my head. He pressed harder and then pulled away quickly. When I opened my eyes his gaze was still upon me, but his features were now dark, and his crystal irises clouded with worry. He whispered, "Run, Jenna." Suddenly I found the pasture empty; Gabriel was nowhere in sight and in my hand there was a strange coin. Frightened, I tried to shout for him, but I couldn't form any words. The green grass suddenly faded to grey and then to bare dirt. Surveying my surroundings, I was shocked to find that I was in the middle of a cemetery with tombstones sticking at awkward angles out of the ground. A scream froze in my throat as I stumbled to my feet. My dress was dirty, and my feet caked with soil. I stumbled along, angry raindrops falling from a threatening sky. The field was filled with hundreds of memorials, and I ran, weaving between them, careful not to touch a single granite stone. Ahead of me was a large tree, thick and black, ominous. Under it, I could barely make out a figure in the pouring rain. As I got closer, I swore it was my father's stature, facing away from me. I moved towards it, trying to make it to safety as lightning cracked overhead. Mud flung from my feet, leaving spotted dots on my dress but I didn't care. My slick, dirty hand grasped the token, my hair now soaked. I came to stop outside of the perimeter of the tree, a distinct line between wet and dry, like a waterfall with shelter behind it. I stood trembling, the rain coming down in sheets, the body just out of reach. I took a breath and reached through the water curtain touching the person's arm. As they turned, I gasped...

Shadow is everything in us we can't see--everything we are not conscious of. Our Shadow self monitors hundreds of thousands of inputs from the world and our body/mind systems, processes the information, and constantly sends constructive and destructive messages into our conscious awareness in the forms of sensations, feelings, impulses, stories, and thoughts. This Shadow material is generated in less than a tenth of a second, and our conscious selves become more or less aware of it after one or two seconds, leaving our conscious awareness always one step behind the non-conscious flood of Shadow material. Personal development is largely growth of our Shadow selves--our adaptive unconscious in which resides our deepest senses of self, morality, intimacy, vulnerability, and spirituality. Shadow Light offers a wealth of research, ideas, and practices to help us grow our Shadow selves and accelerate personal evolution.

Children are intrigued by switches that power a light source and by items that reflect light and sparkle, and they take notice of personal shadows cast on the playground. An understanding of light and shadow is crucial to many STEM fields, including astronomy, biology, engineering, architecture, and more. This book shows teachers how to engage children (ages 3-8 ) with light and shadow in a playful way, building an early foundation for the later, more complex study of this phenomena and, ultimately, for children's interest in professions within the STEM fields. The text offers guidance for arranging the physical environment of classrooms, integrating literacy learning and investigations, and building partnerships with administrators. Each volume in the STEM for Our Youngest Learners Series includes examples of educators and children engaging in inquiry learning, guidance for selecting materials and arranging the learning environment, modifications and accommodations for diverse learners, support for establishing adult learning communities, and more.
