I decided to turn my writings into a book because of the reaction from the ladies in my unit when I shared one, then two, then three I went deep in to some of the most uncomfortable emotional experiences myself and other humans could have. Then, I was led to tap into childhood problems and how experiencing devastation, pain, grief, fear, anger, love, trust, and no trust shapes who we become, our thought processes, and how we move through life. My life inspired me to obtain a master’s degree in psychology (MA-PSY) and to become a Certified Life Coach (CLC). My wish is for my work to inspire, motivate, and educate reader’s by using true-to-life examples of tragedy and triumph. I hope you enjoy this roller coaster ride!

Escape is filled with real life stories that may have been changed to protect others. As an outlet, these writings, though angry, sexy, political, spiritual, and more proved therapeutic while serving a federal sentence of 69 months for crimes not committed by me. The rage, frustration, and absurdity of what was happening messed with her mind!! For almost two years, her brain had her living in an outer body existence. She heard things, saw things, and experienced things she would have never experienced prior to becoming yet another statistic, an inmate. Ugly, horrible, evil, things happened that one never wants to see much less deal with, EVER!! Needing a way to KEEP good days, writing saved her, tapping into something she never knew existed, her truths and voice. She began venting about past, present, and future situations. As a result, she was able to touch the hearts and lives of hundreds of women and some men. She demonstrated her unshakeable faith and love of the Lord while never backing down. This time away forced her to evaluate her life along with processing a lifetime of traumatic instances, that go as far back as eight years old, (many caused by toxic relationships). Through faith, prayers, and growing intimately closer to God and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, she not only survived but triumphed under extremely stressful, unfamiliar, and sometimes dangerous circumstances. She re-entered the world on a mission to make positive impacts while here on earth, appreciating EVERYTHING right town to having toilet tissue on demand.

What do you desire? And I don't mean where would you like to vacation this year or what would you like to have for dinner. What do you truly desire, what is essential for you to thrive? For so many, the definition of success and fulfilment is the one dictated by society, a one-size-fits-all dream. We perform for phantom spectators, exerting our precious energy to dance to the beat of someone else's drum without checking our own internal temperature. This very moment, you might be fighting for something you actually have little appetite for. This book is written for anyone who feels stuck as if your life is not yours. It's a love letter written by the heart to the mind. It's an invitation to realise, accept and pursue your desires so you may escape to a life that's truly yours, free of social expectation or conformity. It is a prime read for anyone who longs to define their own life, doing away with traditional roles and what we are "supposed to" be striving for. It seeks to demonstrate that there very much is a box of collective desires and that living within it is not where we are best situated. Escape to Self is an ode to personal freedom that provides words and chapters for you to lean on as you embrace your own truth and pinpoint what it takes for you to feel proud of and take pleasure in your life. Pleasure is the food of the soul, and nothing is more pleasurable than being able to say you lived your life the way you needed to.

Since the 1970s, the study of emotions moved to the forefront of sociological analysis. This book brings the reader up to date on the theory and research that have proliferated in the analysis of human emotions. The first section of the book addresses the classification, the neurological underpinnings, and the effect of gender on emotions. The second reviews sociological theories of emotion. Section three covers theory and research on specific emotions: love, envy, empathy, anger, grief, etc. The final section shows how the study of emotions adds new insight into other subfields of sociology: the workplace, health, and more.

"The Oxford Handbook of Prosocial Behavior provides a comprehensive review of the current literature contributing to our understanding of when and why people act to benefit others. The field of prosocial behavior encompasses a broad spectrum of activities, ranging from dyadic helping in emergencies, planned helping, volunteerism, and cooperation within and between groups. Taking a multi-level approach, the chapters explore the basic underlying evolutionary, developmental, emotional, cognitive, personality, and social psychological processes that set the stage for and motivate prosocial actions. Consideration is also given to applications to such real-world situations as the encouragement of pro-environmental behavior, the recruitment of participants for medical clinical trials, and the reduction of ethnic conflict and promotion of world peace"--Publisher.
