The church is the hope of the world when it's working right...and therein lies the problem. Most aren't. This has led both Christians and non-Christians to give up on the church entirely; it has led many others to give up on all existing churches-and maybe even start new ones. But all church can and should be transitioned to a new life. A church is never beyond hope. This book will provide principles and practices that can lead to a resurrection of any church, in any setting. It will provide the inspiration and information needed to lead a church successfully through the necessary changes of tradition and culture without compromising God's timeless truth. When this happens, the church will once again be what God intended...the hope of the world.

Church Together is a Christian leadership book designed to give pastors, church leaders, and church members a working plan to overcome the greatest underlying threat to the church today, individualism, through five relationships of surrender which correlate to the five core values of the Church of We. Part One examines the three rotten fruits of individualism within the Church of Me—consumerism, pragmatism, and the extremes of legalism and liberalism—and how to spot each of these problems. Part Two offers a solution on what it will take for churches to make a healthy transition from the Church of Me to the Church of We. Church Together, for this reason, gives churches a manageable plan to defy the individualistic spirit of the age as they become the Church of We in the Age of Me.

He holds the bus for no one as he tackles the "doctrines of demons" that have distracted believers from the freedom of the gospel of good news. He defines the true gospel and exposes the institutional add ons and clarifications that have become a burden to modern day believers. Whenever we hear about the "end-times" or the "last days," it conjures up all kinds of images in our minds. We may think of the universe blowing up with the largest flame imaginable, ushering in a new heaven and a new earth. We have presupposed in the body of Christ that the righteous will be raptured away before all of this occurs, leaving the world to face a massive fire of destruction. Upon hearing Christians mention the last days, many just assume they're referring to the end of time, and the end of the world. But the attentive Bible student will ask, "The last days of what?" It seems obvious to me that the text is referring to the end of the Old Covenant-Temple aeon/age. When you read the New Testament through this lenses, all I can say is, "Wow!" It makes a significant difference when you read the Scriptures with the realization that the Bible was written for you, not to you. We need to also understand that "time of the end" and the "end of time" are not one and the same. The Bible teaches about the "time of the end," but nothing is taught about an "end of time."

Our lives are full of words. We rarely pause to attend to them, much less take time for personal retreat. This book encourages you to stop and revel in the sights, sounds, and meanings of what we say about God. Rachel Hackenberg offers the word-weary, the word-lover, and the spiritually hungry to explore the words of faith anew and thereby meet The Word afresh. Through twelve deceptively light-hearted chapters on letters and definitions, grammar and poetry, this book spa rks spiritual inspiration even as it provides practical exercises for an enlivening personal retreat experience! Rachel G. Hackenberg is an ordained United Church of Christ minister and author of Writing to God and Writing to God: Kids’ Edition. She facilitates workshops on prayer & worship, clergy renewal, and congregational vitality. She blogs at faithandwater.com. "Rachel Hackenberg invites us to reconsider and re-engage with the words we typically use to describe, rather than to fully express, our faith. Sacred Pause is a book to savor. It's as much a devotional as it is a guide for a creative retreat that will change the way you'll encounter Scripture and live the Gospel." —Meredith Gould, PHD, author of Service as a Spiritual Practice "This book will awaken you to a sensational faith, encompassing all your senses and enabling you to experience the holiness of God in the quotidian adventures of life. An antidote to spiritual stagnation, this text will get you out of your chair and onto your feet, dancing with God, singing with the Spirit, and jumping for joy with Jesus." —Bruce Epperly, author of Holy Adventure
