Hughesworld is an authentic account written by a press spokesman for Howard Hughes that traces the highlights of his varied life in motion pictures and aviation but concentrates on the management struggle that followed his death in 1976. Hughes died intestate, or without a valid will, opening up a circus of phony will documents. In addition hundreds of far-distant relatives staked claims. A first cousin, Texas lawyer William Lummis, assumed control after a long and bitter struggle with executives and lawyers who had previously managed Hughes’ businesses. At one time he owed a major airline, TWA, a leading oil well drilling bit company, Hughes Tool, and a missile and electonics concern, Hughes Aircraft. In the final phase of his business life, he owned six Las Vegas hotel-casinos. He ended as a tragic character, living secluded in pain from injuries sustained in plane crashes, rendered helpless by drugs.

Stockholm is a novel about a Los Angeles newspaper reporter who is given an unwanted and unusual assigment to convince a niece of the publisher to leave a religious cult that has been formed in a remote area of vast central California. The reporter, Don Haskins, reluctantly goes. But instead of accomplishing his mission he finds himself intrigued by a beautiful young girl at the cult, one who appears to have a mysterious background. An integrated subplot concerns the trial of two girls for the murder of a Beverly Hills society couple. Haskins covers the murder and trial and finds himself in sympathy with the girls and their lifestyle, just as he has been drawn into the world of the cult. The novel is set in the mid-seventies, a period of irrational fear that gripped cities following the murders by the Charles Manson girls. The title is taken from the Stockholm Syndrome, an unexpected emotional attachment that develops between a hostage and a captor.

Murder Most Foul is a literary study aimed at a general audience that links and compares several great works of world literature to themes of violence and suffering. Included are Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey, Herman Melville’s Moby Dick, and several works of the great Greek tragedians—Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides. The gods of Greek mythology, led by the great god Zeus, were instrumental in causing the pain and strife. The author makes the point that death and destruction, war and violence assert themselves everywhere in great works, and thus draws a conclusion that it is part and parcel of existence in all eras of mankind. The title is taken from Hamlet, words spoken to Hamlet by the ghost of his murdered father.

So Long a Life is a business novel that has the action of a thriller. A large biotech company that is developing a life extension drug is the target of a takeover by an unscrupulous financier & a wall street investment banker’s Mergers and Acquisitions head is called in to assist. He finds himself in an immediate conflict of interest when he falls in love with the scientist daughter of the target company’s founder and how he resolves that conflict—and works to solve what he believes is a murder in connection to the takeover.

Country Music consists of 24 stories, three of them novelette length, depicting rural life in America during the Great Depression and Army life during the Korean War of the 1950s. The stories are linked through setting and characters to produce the effect of two episodic novels-one concerning the basic training, combat experience and readjustment to civilian life of a group of Army draftees, the other a dissection of "small townism" during the stressful 1930s. Many of the stories are written in a colloquial and dialectal style, from the viewpoint of the characters.
