By showing how Jesus' teachings relate to our inner depths, this book guides us toward a more conscious and creative life. The Kingdom Within explores the significance of Jesus' teachings for our interior life -- that inner reality that Jesus called "the kingdom of God." It is Sanford's conviction that contemporary Christianity has overlooked this inner dimension of Jesus' teachings and so has lost touch with the human soul. Illustrated with case histories and dream material drawn from the author's work as a psychotherapist, The Kingdom Within examines such characteristics as extroversion and introversion, masculinity and femininity, thinking and feeling, and sensation and intuition to show how Jesus met the criteria of wholeness or fullness of personhood. Step by step, Sanford helps us to shed the outer mask, to eschew sin, which "means living in enslavement to what we don't know about ourselves," and to follow the road of consciousness, which leads to "a great treasure waiting only to be discovered."

"It's all here-Islam, the family tree, a sea of oil and money to match, palace intrigue...This is high drama and an epic tale." -Tom Brokaw Though Saudi Arabia sits on one of the richest oil deposits in the world, it also produced fifteen of the nineteen 9/11 hijackers. In this immensely important book, journalist Robert Lacey draws on years of access to every circle of Saudi society giving readers the fullest portrait yet of a land straddling the worlds of medievalism and modernity. Moving from the bloody seizure of Mecca's Grand Mosque in 1979, through the Persian Gulf War, to the delicate U.S.-Saudi relations in a post 9/11 world, Inside the Kingdom brings recent history to vivid life and offers a powerful story of a country learning how not to be at war with itself.

The kingdom of God is the called out people of God (Col. 1:1314) from the world of darkness as the spiritual family of Christ. The kingdom of God is bound up in the age of grace and truth and is the fulfillment of Gods promise to Abraham to bless all nations of people. The kingdom of God in prophecy started during the Roman rule (Dan. 2:44) with the Jews at Pentecost in Jerusalem (ca. 33 AD) and then to the Gentile world to include our present age. Jesus reigns as Lord and Christ over His church / the kingdom of God in the twenty-first century and continues to call people of every nation to walk with Him by faith, repentance, and baptism in His name until the consummation of all things and His second return. The Christian Age is the eschatology (Last Day events) of Jesuss reign under the leadership of the Holy Spirit through the preached Word. The salvation of the Gentile nations is the final work of God to restore what was lost in heaven through Satan and his angels (Rev. 12:710). When Jesus appears, his reign ends, and the spiritual family and the church of Christ / kingdom of God will go home.

Building upon past insights, Dr. Rivkin moves forward in recognizing the unique contributions and reconstructing the obscure origins of the Pharisees. Through analysis of the writings of the Jewish historian Josephus, the New Testament, and the body of writings known as the Tannaitic literature, he arrives at a valid identity for the Pharisees: a scholar class dedicated to the supremacy of the twofold Law, the Written and the Oral, who opposed the Sadducees (exponents of the sole authority of the Written Law) and who ultimately made the twofold Law operative in Jewish society. Dr. Rivkin asserts that the essence of the Pharisaic "hidden revolution" was a firm and unwavering belief in a triadic doctrine that elevated the individual above the cultic system and made salvation an individual rather than a group matter. In this way, the Pharisees paved the way for Christianity and Islam.
