All humans are born in Super-Religion. It’s built into our genes. Even Jesus Christ said so: "But now are they many members, yet but one body..."(1 Corinthians, 12:4-20.) "Know you are not that you are not your own?...For you are bought with a price."(Ibid, 6:19-20.) Super-Religion doesn’t need missionaries. You’re already converted—for eternity. It’s a lot like the Mafia. No one can quit it—neither alive nor dead. When Jehovah’s Witnesses bang on your front door, you can slam it in their faces and keep them out, maybe, but not Super-Religion. It has been in your house all along—and inside you! No "maybes." Man is constantly trying to destroy Super-Religion and counterfeit his own illegally, such as Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Confucianism, Taoism, Judaism, Sikhism, Shintoism, fragmenting each of them into tens of thousands of different sects. But Super-Religion is always indestructible and indivisible. It’s still what it was! Super-Religion is the only religion that science regards as valid. Even atheists practice Super-Religion fanatically. They have no choice in the matter. This book will tell you what you need to know about what you already know—but pretend not to!

In 2006, scientist Richard Dawkins published a blockbuster bestseller, The God Delusion. This atheist manifesto sparked a furious reaction from believers, who have responded with numerous books of their own. By pitting science against religion, however, this debate overlooks what science can tell us about religion. According to evolutionary psychologist Matt J. Rossano, what science reveals is that religion made us human. In Supernatural Selection, Rossano presents an evolutionary history of religion. Neither an apologist for religion nor a religion-basher, he draws together evidence from a wide range of disciplines to show the valuable--even essential--adaptive purpose served by systematic belief in the supernatural. The roots of religion stretch as far back as half a million years, when our ancestors developed the motor control to engage in social rituals--that is, to sing and dance together. Then, about 70,000 years ago, a global ecological crisis drove humanity to the edge of extinction. It forced the survivors to create new strategies for survival, and religious rituals were foremost among them. Fundamentally, Rossano writes, religion is a way for humans to relate to each other and the world around them--and, in the grim struggles of prehistory, it offered significant survival and reproductive advantages. It emerged as our ancestors' first health care system, and a critical part of that health care system was social support. Religious groups tended to be far more cohesive, which gave them a competitive advantage over non-religious groups, and enabled them to conquer the globe. Rather than focusing on one aspect of religion, as many theorists do, Rossano offers an all-encompassing approach that is rich with surprises, insights, and provocative conclusions.

In Religion and World History, distinguished authors John C. Super and Briane K. Turley examine the value of religion for interpreting the human experience in the past and present. They explore the elements of religion which best connect it to the cultural and political dynamics that have influenced history. Working within this framework, Super and Turley present three unifying themes: * the relationship between formal and informal religious beliefs, how these change through time, and how they are reflected in different cultures * the relationship between church and state, from theocracies to the repression of religion * the ongoing search for spiritual certainty, and the consequent splintering of core religious beliefs and the development of new ones. One of the few recent books to examine religion’s role in geo-political affairs, its unique approach enables the reader to grasp the many and complex ways in which religion acts upon and reacts to broader global processes.
