The project is to provide safe navigation in the St. Lucie Inlet by deepening the channel to 10 feet through the inlet and 7 feet deep across part of the Indian River to the intracoastal waterway. The north jetty will be extended 500 feet and a 1,200 foot south jetty will be constructed with a walkway in connection with the proposed St. Lucie Inlet State Park. The project also provides for beach erosion control through initial replenishment and periodic nourishment by pumping from the channel and an impoundment basin.
