Locked Lips Sink Ships... Lady Clementine needs a getaway. Badly. The best way to get her mind off of the unexpected loss of her beloved father is to usher her best friend Pippa away to a surprise Caribbean rendezvous with Prince Christopher. It's an added bonus that she stumbles upon her own tropical fling with boat captain Sebastian, Topher's cousin. Sebastian Chevalier walked away from Monaforte long ago. Weary of dealing with the fallout from his parents' on again/off again union, he sought solace in the water and never looked back. And he isn't about to allow even the irresistible charm of Clementine to get in the way of his carefree existence, and readily gives her the old heave-ho. But can Clementine take the wind out of his footloose and fancy-free sails?

Ya gotta hand it to him… When the teenaged Duchess Pippa Grimaldi walked in on her best friend's brother Prince Christopher in a particularly private moment, she about died of embarrassment. As did Topher, especially when his brother Zander and the rest of his royal siblings then promptly dubbed him the Wanker and never let him live down his public “exposure.” It seemed the only way he could escape his overwrought reputation was by fleeing Monaforte altogether, which he did for years. But when he finally returns to the European principality for the wedding of his brother Prince Adrian, Topher finds himself relishing a most unexpected one-night stand with none other than free-spirited Pippa. And while Topher would like nothing more than to nurture the secret crush he’d had on her for years, she decides the only way to spare him further shaming at the hands of his brothers is to get far, far away from him. Even if being with him stirs feelings she’s never felt with another man. What people are saying about Jenny Gardiner's books: "A fun, sassy read! He's a prince with a problem, she's a commoner with a getaway plan. Modern-day Prince Adrian of Monaforte has a most old-fashioned problem: his demanding mother wants him wed to her best friend's daughter, the hard-partying Serena. When his refusal falls on deaf ears, Adrian decides it's time for him to slip away from his gilded cage and figure out his life, all on his own. As luck would have it, event photographer Emma Davison, weary of a revolving door of lost-cause men and tired of her outsider-looking-in career, is in need of her own escape clause, just in time to help a wayward prince in need. And she soon discovers that sometimes a girl's gotta sweep a prince off his feet. For any girl that's ever held out hope that some day her prince would come...or better yet, hoped that some day she'd come to him.

Over time, male homosexuality and effeminacy have become indelibly associated, sometimes even synonymous. In Faeries, Bears, and Leathermen, Peter Hennen contends that this stigma of effeminacy exerts a powerful influence on gay subcultures. Through a comparative ethnographic analysis of three communities, Hennen explores the surprising ways that conventional masculinity is being collectively challenged, subverted, or perpetuated in contemporary gay male culture. Hennen’s colorful study focuses on a trio of groups: the Radical Faeries, who parody effeminacy by playfully embracing it, donning prom dresses and glitter; the Bears, who strive to appear like “regular guys” and celebrate their larger, hairier bodies; and the Leathermen, who emulate hypermasculine biker culture, simultaneously paying homage to and undermining notions of manliness. Along with a historical analysis of the association between effeminacy and homosexuality, Hennen examines how this connection affects the groups’ sexual practices. Ultimately, he argues, while all three groups adopt innovative approaches to gender issues and sexual pleasure, masculine norms continue to constrain members of each community.

Have men really been engaged in a centuries-old conspiracy to exploit and oppress women? Have the essential differences between men and women really been erased? Have men now become unnecessary? Are they good for anything at all? In Is There Anything Good About Men?, Roy Baumeister offers provocative answers to these and many other questions about the current state of manhood in America. Baumeister argues that relations between men and women are now and have always been more cooperative than antagonistic, that men and women are different in basic ways, and that successful cultures capitalize on these differences to outperform rival cultures. Amongst our ancestors---as with many other species--only the alpha males were able to reproduce, leading them to take more risks and to exhibit more aggressive and protective behaviors than women, whose evolutionary strategies required a different set of behaviors. Whereas women favor and excel at one-to-one intimate relationships, men compete with one another and build larger organizations and social networks from which culture grows. But cultures in turn exploit men by insisting that their role is to achieve and produce, to provide for others, and if necessary to sacrifice themselves. Baumeister shows that while men have greatly benefited from the culture they have created, they have also suffered because of it. Men may dominate the upper echelons of business and politics, but far more men than women die in work-related accidents, are incarcerated, or are killed in battle--facts nearly always left out of current gender debates. Engagingly written, brilliantly argued, and based on evidence from a wide range of disciplines, Is There Anything Good About Men? offers a new and far more balanced view of gender relations.
