"In 1993, the CEB Commission 2 Material and Behavior Modelling established the Task Group 2.5 Bond Models. It's terms of reference were ... to write a state-of-art report concerning bond of reinforcement in concrete and later recommend how the knowledge could be applied in practice (Model Code like text proposal)... {This work} covers the first part ... the state-of-art report."--Pref.

Handbook of Post-Processing in Additive Manufacturing is a key resource on postprocessing treatments available for additive manufactured products. It provides broad coverage of the theory behind emerging technology, material development, functional characterization, and technical details required to investigate novel applications and methods and put them to use. The handbook presents experimental breakthroughs of novel methodologies that treat additively manufactured parts, which are suitable for demanding engineering applications. This handbook emphasizes the various types of post-processing technologies that can effectively eliminate the inferiorities of additively manufactured components. It also provides a collection of key principles, literature, methodologies, experimental results, case studies, and theoretical aspects of the different types of postprocessing techniques, along with different classes of materials and end-applications. This book is an ideal reference for libraries and post-graduate courses as well as the professional market, including, but not limited to manufacturing, mechanical and industrial engineering, and materials science.

Providing in-depth information on how to obtain high-performance materials by controlling their nanostructures, this ready reference covers both the bottom-up and the top-down approaches to the synthesis and processing of nanostructured materials. The focus is on advanced methods of mechanical nanostructuring such as severe plastic deformation, including high pressure torsion, equal channel angular processing, cyclic extrusion compression, accumulative roll bonding, and surface mechanical attrition treatment. As such, the contents are inherently application-oriented, with the methods presented able to be easily integrated into existing production processes. In addition, the structure-property relationships and ways of influencing the nanostructure in order to exhibit a desired functionality are reviewed in detail. The whole is rounded off by a look at future directions, followed by an overview of applications in various fields of structural and mechanical engineering. With its solutions for successful processing of complex-shaped workpieces and large-scale specimens with desired properties, this is an indispensable tool for purposeful materials design.

I have taught a variety of courses in biomechanics, introductory and advanced, at multiple universities in Canada. I have not been able to find or use an appropriate textbook for students whose background is not biomedical engineering. It should be noted that there are many outstanding books on biomechanics; however, they are usually not very introductory or the topics covered are too detailed, which makes it impossible for those audiences to make effective use of the book. The present book is an attempt to fill this gap. No previous familiarity of anatomy, biology, or physiology is expected, and in fact every chapter begins with a review of the relevant necessary background. Each chapter then highlights identification and explanation of the indispensable aspects of the associated biomechanics issues.

Engineered cementitious composites (ECC) is a new type of fiber-reinforced bendable cementitious composite that is used in various civil engineering applications instead of conventional and fiber-reinforced concrete due to its high mechanical and durable properties. In the macro and micro mechanic systems of ECC, the incorporation of different materials plays a vital role in enhancing the properties of ECC. Conventional concrete and fiber-reinforced concrete have a brittle nature and crack easily under environmental and mechanical loads, affecting the durability of structures. The usage of alternative materials in the ECC modifies the brittle nature and offers environmentally sustainable construction with low embodied energy and a negative carbon footprint. Production, Properties, and Applications of Engineered Cementitious Composites highlights the new and innovative ways of production, properties, and various applications of engineered cementitious composites. The main focus of the book is on the latest advancements, technical knowledge, tools, and solutions for engineered cementitious composites manufacturing, design, and technologies for construction from various perspectives. Covering key topics such as alternative materials, mineral admixtures, and testing of engineered cementitious composites, this premier reference source is ideal for engineers, industry professionals, researchers, academicians, scholars, practitioners, instructors, and students.
