I may here sum up the evidence against Glengarry. 1. Pickle and Glengarry have both been officers in the French service. 2. both, and no other Highland chief, are to take an active part in the Elibank plot in London (1752). Both are intimate with the Earl Marischal, in Paris. 3. Both declare that no rising in the Highlands can take place without them. 4. Both are sons and heirs of the chief of the greatest Jacobite clan. Pickle says that whatever the Macdonnells do must be known, first, to him.
