Nudibranchs of the Coral Triangle became the only guide to nudibranchs on the market with an up-to-date 2022 taxonomy after its major update (November 2022) This book is a field guide, an assistant for the identification of nudibranchs species in the region. It is designed for divers, underwater photographers. The book presents 1060+ species nudibranchs that can be found and photographed in depths and regions accessible to recreational diving. Photographs, showing color variations and age differences are included. A lot of species covered by this guide have never before appeared in field guides or popular books. Compact text blocks provide information about Common name, Latin name, family, geographic distribution, size, and the most distinctive features. An extensive photo index at the beginning of the book helps you to find the right group of nudibranchs, especially for readers who have not yet mastered their names. Nudibranchs or sea slugs occur throughout the world’s oceans and are present in many marine habitats. The greatest diversity of species is found in the Indo-Pacific tropics with a concentration of species within the Coral Triangle (CT), encompassing the waters of six Southeast Asian countries: Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Malaysia, Timor-Leste and Solomon Islands. This global epicenter of marine biodiversity covers only 1.6 percent of the planet’s oceanic area, but attracts an increasing number of divers and underwater photographers, including nudibranch lovers.

The Coral Triangle in south-east Asia contains over three quarters of the total number of known coral species and more than half of the world's coral reefs, whilst providing resources to support the livelihoods of around 120 million people. The Wakatobi National Park is centrally located within this region, encompassing 13,000km2 and including a diversity of reefs, seagrass and mangrove habitats whilst also being home to around 100,000 people. The sustainable use of resources within the Wakatobi is therefore of significance with regard to both global marine conservation issues and the well-being of the resident population. Drawing upon contributions from experts in the natural and social sciences, this book offers the first detailed insight into the status of the marine environment in the Wakatobi.

This book showcases possibly the first ever comprehensive nudibranch survey along the Dauin coastline in the Philippines! Authors and photographers Justin Carmack and Finn Snow started documenting every nudibranch species they could find in 2021, along the coast of Negros Oriental; primarily Dauin. During this time they were able to capture around 300 incredible nudibranch species, many of which had never been seen there, and half of which have never been described by science. They even found one species that is possibly a brand new discovery! This book doesn't just showcase incredible nudibranch species with amazing photography, it also covers species of pleurobranchs, polybranchs, seahares and marine flatworms; all close relatives to the nudibranch, and just as colorful and interesting. In these 345 pages, you are guaranteed to see something you've never seen before, as well as be awed by the incredible photography these divers were able to achieve. But this isn't just an ordinary photo book. It also contains tons of scientific findings and observations, excerpts from marine biologists, and even stories of certain nudibranchs that were elusive and hard to finally find and photograph. This book covers it all. And if you were thinking of coming to the Philippines to see amazing critters, and didn't know where to go, after reading this book you are guaranteed to want to catch that next flight to Dauin. In fact, the authors didn't just cover Dauin, during their nudibranch species survey. Included in this book are species from all over the island of Negros Oriental, such as Dumaguete, Bacong, Zamboanguita, Siaton, Apo Island, and Basay. So whether you just want to see some amazing nudibranch species that you probably never knew existed, or you want to see what lives under the seas of Negros, or, maybe, you justt want to follow the journey of Justin Carmack and Finn Snow as they discover more and more locations and critters...Then this book is just what you need. About the authors: Justin Carmack and Finn Snow both run their own popular YouTube channels, named Critter Hunter and Finn Snow, where, via video, they document SCUBA diving locations and the critters they find under the waves. This naturally lead to their first book, where they found around 300 species of nudibranch, to create the most comprehensive scientific survey ever done in Negros Oriental of the Philippines. They are still based in Dauin, working on the second edition, which will have even more awesome species.

"Endlessly fascinating, unpretentiously educational, thoughtfully accessible and beautifully presented" - Alex Tattersall, award-winning underwater photographer and the founder of Underwater Visions. The Coral Triangle, straddling the confluence of the Indian and Pacific Oceans, harbours the greatest biodiversity of marine life on the planet. It is home to a wondrous variety, including 75% of the world's coral species and around 2500 species of fish. The biological and environmental diversity is driven by the volcanically active and complex geology of the so called 'Ring of Fire'. Habitats range from underwater slopes of volcanic black sand to extensive coral reefs in atolls and vast calderas. While clearly vulnerable to increasing global threats such as climate change, pollution and overfishing, the Coral Triangle currently features some the richest coral reefs in the world. With stunning photography supported by an engaging and accessible text, this book highlights and celebrates this biodiversity along with the underlying message that it needs our care and protection before it is too late.

Coral Reef Fishes is the successor of The Ecology of Fishes on Coral Reefs. This new edition includes provocative reviews covering the major areas of reef fish ecology. Concerns about the future health of coral reefs, and recognition that reefs and their fishes are economically important components of the coastal oceans of many tropical nations, have led to enormous growth in research directed at reef fishes. This book is much more than a simple revision of the earlier volume; it is a companion that supports and extends the earlier work. The included syntheses provides readers with the current highlights in this exciting science. * An up-to-date review of key research areas in reef fish ecology, with a bibliography including hundreds of citations, most from the last decade * Authoritative and provocative chapters written to suggest future research priorities * Includes discussions of regulation of fish populations, dispersal or site fidelity of larval reef fishes, sensory and motor capabilities of reef fish larvae, and complexities of management of reef species and communities

In 2015 three leading scientific experts on nudibranchs and sea slugs collaborated to produce a comprehensive guide for divers and scientists to the Indo-Pacific region. After only three years, Nudibranch and Sea Slug Identification Indo-Pacific has sold out and become outdated due to the discovery of new species and numerous changes to the taxonomy of these organisms. On 1 November 2018, a new 2nd Edition will be realeased -- updated and reorganised, including 185 new species. Among other features, the new edition includes additional photographs of species, an identification key, and an up-to-date classification. The Indo-Pacific represents the largest expanse of tropical ocean in the world, stretching from the Indian Ocean coast of southern Africa and the Red Sea to the central Pacific of the Hawaiian Islands, Easter Island and the Marquesas. This region supports the most diverse marine fauna of any place in the world for most groups of marine organisms. The nudibranchs and sea slugs are no exception to this rule; there are about 3,000 described species of these organisms in the world and at least 40% of these have been found exclusively in the Indo-Pacific tropics. This book illustrates 2,138 Indo-Pacific nudibranchs and sea slugs, including many undescribed species.
