Wheat Diseases and Their Management addresses biotic and abiotic constrains to wheat production. Besides detailed illustrations and descriptions of the most important diseases of wheat in the world, it offers an updated view on the reemergence of some old diseases and the occurrence of new races of the pathogen. It deals with the sustainability of wheat production through precision agriculture and focuses on the importance of conservation tillage. The book also deals with pillars of integrated disease management which would be eco-friendly and reduce severity of diseases and yield losses, with acquired Latin-American experiences of more than 40 years.

Wheat is considered the first crop that is grown on earth. It is a staple food in many regions of the world. Due to the increase in the world,Äôs population, it is very important to increase wheat production. With an estimate in 2050, almost 50% more production of wheat will be required due to the increase in population. Increased productivity of wheat is the biggest challenge for researchers. It faces several biotic (microbial diseases) and abiotic (water, temperature, and climatic change) limiting factors. But the major threat for wheat is due to a large number of fungal diseased pathogens, which causes massive and destructive loss to the crop. It includes rusts, smuts, Fusarium head blight, Septoria leaf blotch, tan spot, and powdery mildew that cause the most serious losses. It was estimated in 2019 that almost 22% yield loss of wheat was due to diseases. These percentages will increase with time due to mutation and diversity in virulent strains. This chapter includes all major and minor fungal diseases of wheat, symptom, disease cycle, spore identification, disease losses, etiology, and integrated disease management.

New ways to improve cereal crops against fungal, bacterial, and viral diseases are covered in this book that was put together by a group of experts. These include genetics, genome editing systems, and nano-biotechnological tools. Cereal crops are mainly the world's leading food crops and feed a large share of the world population. However, external factors, such as pathogens, have often threatened their productivity. Like wheat, rice, maize, oats, barley, millet and storage, etiology, epidemiology, and diseases in cereal crop management. In addition, the importance of crop genetics and genomics in combating pathogens has been discussed. This book offers up-to-date information on new methods, such as the potential of the genome editing system for crop improvement, in particular the CRISPR-Cas system. The current volume also talks about identification, plant breeding, genome editing, and nanotechnology tools that can be used to fight disease in cereal crops. This book is good for students, teachers, and researchers who study biotic stress in cereals, as well as scientists who study nanotechnology, disease resistance, pathogen biology, genome editing, agriculture sciences, and future biotechnology.
