One weekend, mama & Ms. Nell had a Bar-B-Q. People played cards, smoked weed, drunk & tried to talk to each other's man or woman. Ms. Nell's daughter, JoAnn, kept going over to my mama's apartment. I already heard she snorted cocaine. She was buying it from Ke-Ke. I went in the house to get some of mama's Banana Pudding. Soon as I walked in, I saw mama with a clear, small bag in her hand by her chin. She had her pinky finger in her nose, snorting cocaine. She tried to hide the bag, but it was too late. I knew she smoked weed. It didn't bother me. When I saw her doing cocaine, it really hurt me. Mama told JoAnn "you can get this shit back, this shit burning my goddamn nose." She leaned over to the sink & turned on the water faucet & put water in her hand & washed her nose out. JoAnn took another hit & laughed at mama. I asked mama "why you doing cocaine?" She said "Robbie, stay in a child's place & stay the hell out my goddamn business, & get yo ass own out the door." I'll never get that image out my head.

Life for me wasn't always easy, but I made the best of it. I grew up in two towns called Attapulgus and Bainbridge, GA. You probably never heard of them because they are so small. The population is less than 500 to this day. It's on Hwy 241 and off Hwy 27. It only has one traffic light. When you come through the town you will see all the houses on one side--that's about 15 houses. Most houses got cats and dogs in their front yard, but not this town. They have hogs, goats, cows, chickens and their bitties (baby chickens) following them. Now that's what you call country as hell. What I'm about to tell you will make you laugh and want to kill me for the things I did to people growing up? This book is mainly about four men. The first one: some people called him Fadlow and some called him Buddy. But, he had another name he was called. He hated it. The name was Booger Nose Mule Train. The second: ShakerHead. The third: Splinter. And last, but not least, myself, BAD ASS ROBBIE DUKE.
