Now the headquarters of the Jicarilla Apache, Dulce (meaning "sweet" in Spanish) was named by the impoverished and relocated Indians who associated the place with the sugar and candy that came with government-supplied rations. Since the establishment of the reservation in 1887, Dulce has become the hub of everything associated with the Jicarillas. From the early timber operations, farming, and livestock raising, the Jicarilla Apache have become an economic powerhouse of northern New Mexico. Dulce is now a community living in two worlds, fully immersed in the American mainstream economy with a world-class hunting lodge, significant oil and gas operations, and widely diversified investments while fiercely maintaining the centuries-old language, culture, religion, and ceremonies of Jicarilla Apache Indians.

The U.S. government has allowed the Grays, a race of extra-terrestrials from the Zeta Reticuli system, to establish a foothold on Earth at a place called Dulce Base, a secret underground base near the Archuleta Mesa in New Mexico.This came about after President Eisenhower signed a treaty with them at Holleman Air Force Base in 1953, but following a surprise attack on the humans of the base in 1975, the treaty was deemed worthless and the U.S. government was in a bind.Fast forward to 1979. The Characters Of Jacob & Dulce And Their Families Were Introduced To The Public Of Goa Through The Pages Of Newspaper O Ultramar In A Series Of Sketches Published In The 1890S Under The Title Notas A Lapis Marginal Notes, The Author Employing The Nom De Guerre Of Gip. The Sketches Were Compiled Into A Book And First Published In 1896 As Jacob & Dulce. Gip Used The Scenes In The Plot To Criticise Goan Christian Society As Well As The Government Of The Day; No One Was Spared His Caustic Observations. Gip Used A Few Place Names That Coincided With Some In Margao, And It Was Assumed That The Town Of Breda Was Margao Itself And That The Characters Described Belonged To Well-Known Families Of That Town. A Second Edition Came Out In 1970 And There Were No Reprints Until The Third Edition In 1974 Which May Have Been Due To Coyness In Exposing The Past And The Existing Warts Of Goan Society As Well As The Erroneous Perception That The Work Was A Direct Attack On Known Goan Families.
