The King, therefore, divided his host into two bodies. In one he put all the artillery, guarded by a strong body of horse, and com manded by the Master of Alcantara and Martin Alonzo, Senior of Montemayor. This division was to proceed by the road through the val leys, where pasturage abounded for the oxen which drew the ordnance. Excerpt from A Summer in Andalucia, Vol. 2 of 2 The history of the last war of Granada, and its conquest by the Christians, has, with all its inte resting details, been rendered so familiar to the British public by the pen of Geoffrey Crayon, as to make it quite unnecessary for me to attempt even a summary sketch of those stirring events.
