This book constitutes the proceedings of the 15th European Conference on Technology Enhanced Learning, EC-TEL 2020, held in Heidelberg, Germany, in September 2020. The 24 research papers and 20 demo and 5 poster papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 91 submissions. The European Conference on Technology-Enhance Learning, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, is committed to address global challenges and quality education. The papers deal with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 and SDG 10, to help to reduce the existing gaps and inequalities between countries and regions from around the world in terms of inclusiveness, equity, access, and quality of education. Because of globalization and competition among education providers, quality has become an important issue these days. Quality education means quality of teachers, quality of learners, quality of courses, quality of planning and management, quality of infrastructure, quality of resource and quality of teaching and evaluation methods. Quality in education, at all the levels, is being encouraged in all the countries because of academic, social, political and economic advantages. If we want to succeed in the expansion of educational provision nationally and internationally, we have to improve and sustain the quality of our education system. To do this, it is quite requisite to identify and address challenges in quality education. These challenges are considerable to be addressed for the country as it is now engaged in the use of higher education as a powerful tool to build a knowledge-based information society of the 21st century. Recognizing these basic facts, the universities have to perform a multiple role namely creating new knowledge, acquiring new capabilities and producing an intelligent human resource pool through challenging teaching, research and extension activities so as to balance both the need and the demand. In terms of the system approach, the quality of input and process will shape the quality of outputs that graduate from the education system. The quality education is not a one-time affair. It is a continuous process involving sustained efforts. This paper identifies and addresses challenges in quality higher education in India.

This volume offers a wide range of approaches for framing and addressing issues which currently shape global education. The discussions here are constructed around four research themes which reflect current strategic research priorities in Australian education. Together, they form a more rounded framework for approaching and evaluating educational changes and developments. The collection is made up of collaborative research that emerged between researchers and Masters coursework students in the Department of Education at Charles Darwin University, Australia. How we understand education quality is inextricably linked with perspectives on social justice. Questions of inclusion, relevance and democracy in education are increasingly contested, most especially in the global South, and improving the quality of education, particularly for the most disadvantaged, has become a topic of fundamental concern for education policy makers, practitioners and the international development community. The reality experienced by many learners continues to be of inadequately prepared and poorly motivated teachers, struggling to deliver a rapidly changing curriculum without sufficient support, and often using outmoded teaching methods in over-crowded or dilapidated classrooms. Education Quality and Social Justice in the South includes contributions from leading scholars in the field of education and development. The text draws upon state of the art evidence from the five year EdQual research programme, which focuses upon raising achievement in low income countries, and demonstrates how systems of high quality universal education can be sustained. By exploring recent research initiatives to improve education quality, the importance of supporting local policy makers, educators and parents as agents of change, and students as active inquirers is highlighted, and the challenge of taking successful initiatives to scale is explained.
