This guidebook to the Greek island of Corfu describes a selection of 22 superb day walks throughout the island, along with the 150km Corfu Trail. The day walks range from 3.5 to 18km in length, and begin from a number of popular holiday destinations across the island, including Corfu Town (home of the Durrell family), Kalami, Paleokastritsa, Agios Georgios north and south, Liapades and Benitses. The 10-stage Corfu Trail starts near Kavos at the island's southernmost tip and ends at Agios Spiridonas, its northerly promontory. The Corfu Trail is suitable for both novice and experienced walkers, and can be walked year round, however accommodation is easier to find between May to October. The wide range of day walks provides a taste of the many different landscapes of the island from coastal paths and beaches to olive groves and wooded hills. Alongside detailed route descriptions and clear maps, the guidebook has notes on Corfu's plants and wildlife, food and drink, and useful advice on travel to and around the island. It includes suggestions for where to stay, as well as a glossary of useful expressions. Corfu is the greenest of the Greek islands and one of the most accessible; the walks described avoid the crowded resorts and allow you to experience the laidback atmosphere and varied natural landscapes of this beautiful island.

Three septuagenarians walk 180km of Corfu Trail in eight days, from Kavos on the southern tip to picturesque Agni in the northeast. 6 Freytag and Berndt maps guide the reader along the trail and 25 views illustrate the beauty of their journey. The three oldies photograph flowers identifying 150 (see www.corfuflowers.com), 48 of which are in the book, and sample Corfiot cuisine with recipes shown. Their guests talk about their island. They include Corfu Trail founder Hilary Paipeti; Greek way-marker Harry, who walks like a Sports Range Rover off-road; the author's life-long friend Fotis, just back from running round Mount Olympus; retired English teachers Bill and Barbara; Patricia Cookson, founder of CV Travel; and German rocket engineer Dierk, his French wife Christine and their Greek dog. The Daily Mail said: "e;No one feels the beat of Corfu's heart more keenly than John Waller. His latest book, Walking the Corfu Trail, captures the magic of this beautiful island in such a way that by the end of the journey you know the place so well that you can almost call it home."e; Ramblers World Wide Holidays said: "e;An enchanting book and great companion for the walker and lover of nature and flowers."e;

This guidebook presents four specially devised treks in the mountains of Greece, showcasing its beautiful scenery, rich flora and cultural interest. The Peloponnese Way crosses the Peloponnese peninsula from Dhiakoftó in the north to Pantazí beach in the south, via Trípoli. Taking in alpine meadows, a dramatic gorge and forest-clad slopes, the 220km route can be walked in around a fortnight. The 460km Pindos Way is a south-north traverse of Greece's mountain backbone, and can be walked in a month, or split into sections of around a week. With remote terrain, navigational challenge and fewer facilities on route, it is the toughest of the four treks but offers a unique chance to experience both the country's wilderness and traditional mountain life. A shorter 80km Zagóri trek can be enjoyed in its own right or incorporated into the Pindos Way, and the final route explores Mt Olympus, home of the ancient gods of Greek myth and the highest mountain in Greece. With clear mapping alongside detailed route description for each stage of the treks, as well as background information about the region and a Greek-English glossary.
