The South Dakota Experience: An Oral History Collection of Its People includes individual experiences, government agencies and related activities, aftermath from Rapid City, Box Elder, Johnson Siding, Black Hawk, Keystone and Sturgis. Also includes an index to the manuscripts at the end. The project is a joint project of the University of South Dakota and the State Historical Society. Later, the Rapid City Public Library joined in the project. The project was originally funded by the SD State Legislature and includes over 950 recordings.
