Excerpt from The Poultry and Egg Situation, Vol. 83: November 1943 A record quantity of chicken will be available for civilian consumption this holiday season. Supplies of turkey, on the other hand, will be moder ately smaller than a year earlier, since slaughter will be a little less than last fall and increased quantities will be_taken for the military forces. 'for 19h} as'a whole, per capita consumption of chicken and turkey will be nearly 33 pounds compared with less than 26 pounds in 19he. Marketings of both chickens and turkeys, as usual, will be seasonally heavy in the last quarter. Even at the record high supply levels, however, the unprecedented consumer demand for poultry at ceiling prices is not likely to be fully satisfied. Demand for turkey, particularly, will exceed supplies by a wide margin. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
