Hemangiomas and vascular malformations are common place congenital birth marks (i.e. port wine stains) either present at birth or developing during the child's first years of life. In the past, the treatment of these congenital vascular lesions lacked a detailed plan of therapy, partly due to the belief that, given time, they would disappear.
