Eleanor Jacobs went abroad for the first time when she sailed to Panama to marry a fellow New Yorker and moved to Guatemala. Eleanor describes in amusing detail her crash course in household management and socializing with friends of dictators. The war years were spent in Trinidad, New York and Washington and saw the birth of her only daughter. She spent two years in Bombay, India, at a time of political unrest before settling down in Panama City, Panama, to juggle the demands of wife and mother and eventually that of career woman. Widowed at 54, her daughter married, Eleanor was recruited to the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) executive team in Madison, Wisconsin. She returned to the US after living abroad for 27 years, but a medical condition forced an early retirement. Her health continued to be a major challenge, both physically and spiritually, and she discusses the challenges of these years thoughtfully and philosophically. She has lived in a continuing care community in Madison since 1990, retaining her involvement with CUNA while developing new interests. The essays she wrote in her creative writing classes form the basis of this memoir.

This memoir invites readers to explore stages of their own spiritual journey. Bianchi graphically describes his path from an Italian immigrant family on the West Coast, through twenty years as a Jesuit, to being a professor of religious studies at Emory University. As he develops a more this-worldly inner life, Bianchi struggles with church teachings about Christ, sexuality, and authority. He candidly reveals how failed marriages gave him a humbler grasp of meeting the transcendent in everyday problems. He embraces a contemplative spirituality that links Buddhist and Taoist practices with western mysticism. With a foot in Christianity, he shows how to walk a way of inter-spirituality as a meaningful road for the contemporary seeker. For Bianchi this involves becoming a metaphorical Christian as he moves away from religious certitudes of early life to find spirit in nature and humanity. Bianchi, a well-known writer on spiritual aging, challenges Baby Boomers to craft a contemplative life that works for them today. With his wife and two cats, he discovers a home for body and spirit along the banks of the Oconee River in Athens, Georgia.

Casa Facebook Mark Zuckerberg, His Friends and the Mystical House that Launched Them Judy Fusco with Kevin Paterson In Casa Facebook, the author weaves together fascinating real-life stories of the founders of Facebook, the Silicon Valley kingpins, and a mystical house that became headquarters to the social networking startup that changed the world. This compelling narrative provides readers with an insightful view into the lives and community that launched Facebook and the dynamics that can transform wild dreams into reality. "Casa Facebook is a captivating story of Judy Fusco's experience with American values seen in the context of her Asian heritage," says Anita Wonder, author and close observer of the drama that played out at the house. "One can't read this book without feeling there is a deeper meaning to the extraordinary home where an American institution took shape." According to Judy Fusco, author of Casa Facebook, "In recent years I've had the opportunity of closely watching a transformational idea take shape around my dining room table, as a team of young entrepreneurs took a dream and unveiled it to the world. This social revolution has made a positive difference in the lives of millions-800 million members to be exact-and in the events of nations." "It seems," she says, "as if destiny brought these social revolutionaries to my house for a brief season and a great purpose. Perhaps, too, the mystique surrounding the house played a significant role in launching the global invasion of social networking and in propelling the Facebook founders to world renown. By taking a look through a window of time-a window I and many others have called Casa Facebook-we can listen and learn from the carriers of this grand idea, and in their lives we can find inspiration that can shape our own destinies."
