Becoming is a popular term of recent, thanks to Dr. Michelle Obama. This book, entitled "The Journey to Becoming A Nurse" describes the evolution of becoming a member of the nursing profession. This book was written to enhance knowledge regarding the profession of nursing as well as illuminate steps in the process of becoming.This book is dedicated to aspiring nurses, current nursing students, licensed nurses, and all of those in the general public curious about this journey. The Journey to Becoming A Nurse provides a compilation of tips, tricks, strategies, and insights on the evolution of becoming a nurse and is organized by key steps. The book provides guidance for nursing program selection, identifies success strategies beneficial to currently enrolled and/or future nursing students, illuminates the realities as well as survival tips during ones nursing career, and provides recommendations for longevity within the nursing profession. The strategies, tips, and recommendations provided within the book were derived from four primary sources. First, the contents are reflective of 20 years of knowledge gained as a member of the nursing profession and from direct exposure to several levels of nursing education programs (LPN, RN, BSN, MSN) as a student and teacher. Second, opinions expressed within the book come from directly working in the field as a nursing supervisor, manager, educator, and professor in many settings. Third, contents were derived from knowledge gained during conversations while mentoring new nurses. Fourth and finally, many items within were provided based on the feedback received from previous nursing students, peers, and colleagues. It is recommended that this book be shared to enhance awareness and knowledge regarding the profession of nurses. It is my hope that those that flip through the pages of this guidebook gain an understanding of the sacrifices it takes to enter and remain in the field of nursing. Nurses deserve accolades for their dedication, perseverance, and longevity within the most trusted professions.
