The American invasion and strategies are a crucial factor in the case of the Vietnam war. The U.S supported South Vietnam in financial ways as well as offered their military support. Their soldiers were trained and implemented many tactics to battle, especially against the guerilla techniques of the Vietnamese. William Pitsenbarger, William Maud Bryant and Jimmie. E. Howard were some of those brave militants who participated in the series of attacks. Pits dedicated his life to the rescue of the troops and fought back as much as possible in the Xa Cam My incident on April 11, 1966. While Jimmie.E. Howard participated in the intense attack at Chu Lai on June 13, 1966 and Bryant was shot by the rocket from the adversary in 1969. All of these men were honored for their dedication and sacrifice. Additionally, Bryant Hall was dedicated to his bravery. When his battalion ran out of ammunition, Jimmie Howard gave one of the most famous orders in military history: to hurl stones at the enemy. They deceived the adversaries as they believed that they were explosives. The sacrifice made by Pits on his off day and volunteered to rescue the militants also made the rest of the survivors owe towards him. The entire nation bowed before him for that. Thus, these brave warriors adorned military history.

There are many broad studies of the Vietnam War, but this work offers an insight into the harrowing experiences of just a small number of men from a single unit, deep in the jungles of Vietnam and Cambodia. Its focus is the remarkable account of a Medal of Honor recipient Leslie Sabo Jr., whose brave actions were forgotten for over three decades. Sabo and other replacement soldiers in Bravo Company, 3rd Battalion, 506th Infantry (Currahees), 101st Airborne Division, were involved in intense, bloody engagements such as the battle for Hill 474 and the Mother's Day Ambush. Beginning with their deployment at the height of the blistering Tet Offensive, and using military records and interviews with surviving soldiers, Eric Poole recreates the terror of combat amidst the jungles and rice paddies of Vietnam. Company of Heroes, now published in paperback tells the remarkable story of how Sabo earned his medal, as Bravo Company forged bonds of brotherhood in their daily battle for survival.

World War II was the defining event of the twentieth century. For everyone it was a time of confusion, fear, destruction, and death on a scale never before seen. Much has been written of the generals, campaigns, and battles of the war, but it was young, ordinary American kids who held our freedom in their hands as they fought for liberty across the globe. Forgotten Heroes of World War II offers a personal understanding of what was demanded of these young heroes through the stories of rank-and-file individuals who served in the navy, marines, army, air corps, and merchant marine in all theaters of the war. Their tales are told without pretense or apology. At the time, each thought himself no different from those around him, for they were all young, scared, and miserable. They were the ordinary, the extraordinary—the forgotten.
