The ninth Internet Governance Forum (IGF) took place in 2014 in Istanbul. The forum played a key role in facilitating policy debates and identifying emerging issues for discussion. The volume explores the consequences of recent events in global Internet policy and possible ways forward following the 2012 World Conference on International Telecommunications (WCIT-12). Each year the IGF Secretariat produces a book to provide a concise yet comprehensive summary of the proceedings that take place at the annual global IGF gatherings. Included herewith are edited transcripts of all of the main sessions that took place over the four days in Baku and the reports of the workshops and other events that were submitted appropriately. The theme of the forum for the seventh meeting was 'Internet Governance for Sustainable Human, Economic and Social Development'. As per standard IGF practice, the entire meeting was webcasted and the possibility of remote participation was offered, which doubled the active participation in both main sessions and workshops and other events throughout the week. Real time transcription was also available to enhance the participatory experience for those present in Baku and around the world.
