He felt like he was the only person in a huge, never-ending cloud of mist. Paths that were visible during the day were now hidden. He yelled, hoping someone would answer, but the fog made it impossible for him to speak. Even though he was a big guy, he felt small at that moment, which is something that smaller people bravely deal with every day. Instead of being excited about a trip, his heart was racing with worry. He only wanted the comfort of home, even though he had always been an explorer, eager to find new ways to do things and share stories. He had been able to walk on these feet before, but now they seemed shaky; with each step, they shook as if they were wondering, "Which way do we go?" As the evening went on, the tall man's situation got worse. It was hard to tell the difference between the sky and the ground because of the thick, steady fog. It looked like all directions were equal. He had no sun or stars to help him find his way. He had never been so lost before. He wasn't only lost, but he also felt cut off from everything he knew and held dear, including his family and friends. To see through the fog, he lit a small lamp that was in his pocket.
