SONS OF HIS PURPOSE is BOOK 1 of a trilogy, which chronicles the ministry of a father and his son - who, with their wives, were co-workers with God in His purpose for the Church and the world He loves. The principle account describes the conversion of a declared young atheist in 1932 and his remarkable spiritual journey of 52 years - first as a successful Christian businessman - then as Pastor/Founder of Glad Tidings Missionary Society, Vancouver, BC, during a restoration revival movement in 1948. Reg Layzell was instrumental in training and thrusting out a significant number of young adults as pioneer missionaries to various nations. This vision was sustained in a congregation imbued with a passion to pray and give liberally to fulfill the purpose of God.A companion account describes our heritage and up-bringing in Ontario, Bible College, wedding in 1948, and subsequent ministry with Hugh's father during the early years of the outpouring at Glad Tidings, and four years of church planting in the U.S. and Canada, prior to our call to Africa in 1956.

Many children’s ministries are a flurry of activity, run by dedicated volunteers and staff who put in long hours and work hard for the good of the children and parents they serve. Yet despite good intentions, many children’s ministries today are not effective. They lack purpose and intentionality. A twenty-five year veteran of children’s ministry in the local church, pastor Steve Adams has ministered to families in multiple churches, from tiny church plants to his present position at Saddleback Church. In this book, Steve applies the revolutionary insights of the Purpose Driven Church to children’s ministry and leads readers on a journey of discovery, showing them how to develop an intentional ministry process that moves children toward spiritual health while building a healthy ministry environment for those who work with kids. You will learn how to ask and answer five simple but powerful questions: Why are we on this journey? Where are you and where are you going? Who are we trying to reach? How will we move our children towards spiritual health? What are the essential elements necessary for the journey? There is no single key to a successful children’s ministry, nor is there only one way that works for everyone. But there is a proven process you can follow and Steve shows how children’s ministries all over the world are reaching their God-given potential by discovering their biblical purpose, avoiding the traps of frustration and burnout.

Although Brave was a surprise four-week premature baby, he weighed way more than many of the full-time babies. Thankfully, he was in great shape and was able to come home like a normal baby. He was a happy boy hitting time lines until he hit age one. At that point, the Pediatrician referred Brave to a program where Kalee finally realized how behind he was in many parts of the body. From that time until he went to kindergarten, she would soon learn so many different procedures and different types of doctors, specialists, therapists, tests, and diagnoses; many times the hard way. Insurance wouldnt help her, they would just put off paying for a procedure. Helping get Brave the most assistance and diagnosis was only the beginning. Kalee would have some of the same procedures to keep track of her own serious medical issues and her other son, Timbers, diagnosis. Having God lead her each day and provide her with hope, love, and grace truly kept her going. Without the Lord at her side, she may not have seen that God selected her to have two special needs kids. Its a blessing she doesnt deserve and just prays that God shows her each day what she needs to be doing for Him.
