Inflammation, the most common underlying component chronic conditions. It is has ""-itis"", it is inflammation. If there is pain, there is inflammation. This book is not written for the mainstream population that believes a balanced diet is a PopTart in each hand. HOWEVER: If you are willing to do what it takes to get better, this is a great start. The biggest problem with an anti-inflammatory/elimination diet is knowing how to fix yummy food. There really isn't one book that I have found that addresses all of these restrictions. This book is cost friendly, providing charts of those foods that don't necessarily have to be organic, how to make your own Kefir, Kombucha, Sprouts and Yogurt as well as nut milks and nut butters. It's NOT perfect, likely quite a few typos. Not all of the recipes will be just right, you may have to tweak for your own tastes, ect. But it is a good base and foundation. There is a companion Food Tracking and Stats Journal available for sale. Bon Apetite!

As many as eight million people worldwide suffer from reflex sympathetic pain syndrome/chronic regional pain syndrome (RSD/CRPS). Many have not been diagnosed, even though the pain they experience can be severe, debilitating, and life-changing. As Dr. Katinka van der Merwe, DC, QNP, reveals in Putting Out the Fire, RSD/CRPS was first documented during the Civil War. It took physicians many decades to understand the subtleties of the disease, and research is still moving forward. Dr. Van der Merwe is at the forefront of new treatments to relieve pain. Van der Merwe helps readers understand the myriad symptoms associated with RSD/CRPS and explains how the syndrome stems from a malfunction in the central nervous system. In addition to providing background and research on RSD/CRPS, Van der Merwe includes her revolutionary Four-Punch System treatment technique. She uses her expertise in Vagus Nerve awakening, Quantum Neurology nerve rehabilitation, frequency-specific microcurrent, and the VECTTOR Therapy System to compressively treat pain at its source. Not only must RSD/CRPS sufferers deal with the chronic, constant pain, but they often have anxiety, depression, and frustration about their condition. Van der Merwe understands this and gives readers hope for a brighter future.

This monograph develops an alternative approach to counterinsurgency, and explains how the current narratives in the field of counterinsurgency are not completely accurate. Counterinsurgents only need to properly understand the environment and then concentrate their efforts in that critical area of the insurgency identified as the sustainer of that insurgency. The U.S. counterinsurgency (COIN) plan does not need to address all those lines of effort not directly related to the root cause of an insurgency, as those efforts may actually fuel the insurgency due to building unrealistic expectations among the populace. This monograph also develops the analogy that the four elements necessary for a fire (fuel, oxygen, heat, chain reaction) parallel the necessary elements of an insurgency (the fuel representing unresponsive government, oxygen representing existing structures/vulnerability, heat representing political/diplomatic factors, chain reaction representing the information environment, and the population). Like a fire, if one has a proper understanding of the environment, and can clearly identify the true sustainer of the insurgency (the root problem), then one only need to remove that one element from the equation, and that insurgency will be unsustainable. Having a simple approach will not only allow the counterinsurgents to better utilize their resources-in an Economy of Force-and allow them to Mass their power on one clear Objective, it will also remind counterinsurgents of the other Principle of War that has proven to be so critical in complex environments-simplicity.

Fire can fascinate, inspire, capture the imagination and bring families and communities together. It has the ability to amaze, energise and touch something deep inside all of us. For thousands of years, at every corner of the globe, humans have been huddling around fires: from the basic and primitive essentials of light, heat, energy and cooking, through to modern living, fire plays a central role in all of our lives. The ability to accurately and quickly light a fire is one of the most important skills anyone setting off on a wilderness adventure could possess, yet very little has been written about it. Through his narrative Hume also meditates on the wider topics surrounding fire and how it shapes the world around us.
