There could be many reasons why you’re drawn to this book — or perhaps synchronicity had a part to play in that this book somehow found you! Are you looking for answers as to what happens to your loved ones after they’ve passed? Perhaps you’re wondering what you should do after having had your own psychic experience. Whether you’re a student of psychic studies or a practicing medium, a believer or a skeptic, or someone who is bereaved as a result of a loss, this book was written to provide you with all the answers to your questions about the Other-Side. In Bridging Two Realms, renowned psychic medium John Holland offers one of the clearest pictures anyone could have of the Spirit World. He draws on his decades of personal experiences with Spirit, and includes inspirational stories and real-life case studies, to help you pursue the unfoldment of your own spiritual abilities safely and wisely. His hope is to help the bereaved by giving them comfort and inspiration in knowing that there really is life after physical death. There is evidence of the Spirit World and what happens in those spiritual realms. Your loved ones are just a thought away, and you can still communicate with them. They’re still close, and they often try to reach out to us to lend their love and support. Ultimately, you will learn that mediumship is not just about connecting to the Spirit World; it’s just as much about helping and healing the living. There are spiritual bridges that can be built to connect to your loved ones who have passed, as well as the most important bridge of all: the bridge to your own spirit.

Canada, Australia and New Zealand inherited and adapted a monarchical framework of government, even in the absence of a resident monarch. Although steady transfer of the royal prerogative to a popularly elected executive has enabled these three former dominions to be sometimes described as "crowned republics" or "disguised republics", there was no popular drive to abandon monarchy until the 1990s, and even then the republican cause was based largely on issues of symbolism and national identity than on perceived core weaknesses in the political system. This book traces the long and sometimes subtle process of localising monarchy in the vice-regal office from the mid-twentieth century onwards, and compares the powers and functions of the Queen's surrogates with each other and with those of the monarch herself, including their recourse to the so-called "reserve powers". Among the key questions posed in this comparative study are: Can the current monarchical system be refined to the point of countering republican sentiment? Why has the republican argument gained more momentum in Australia than in Canada or New Zealand? Can a republican model retain residual monarchic elements? What is likely to be the lasting legacy of the Crown in these three strikingly similar political cultures? The author's underlying loyalties are neither firmly monarchist nor firmly republican. He is convinced, however, that the combined effects of a strong sense of national identity and an increasingly presidential style of political leadership within these three Westminster-derived systems make it difficult for contemporary governors-general (or their state and provincial colleagues)to fulfil two of their key roles-to unite and inspire the people on the one hand and to be a credible constitutional watchdog on the other.

Millions of heroic single mothers around the world, poor and rich, are rearing their own or someone else's children. Deaths, separations and divorces, and military deployments send many more women into single mother status every year, while other "hidden" single mothers bring up children virtually alone as fathers are ill, disabled, disengaged or just plain disinterested. In "Soul Mothers' Wisdom" clinical social worker Bette Freedson shares seven key insights she has identified through years of workshops, counseling sessions, and her own self-examination as a single mother. She gently guides often-overwhelmed single mothers to a strong personal identity, a rediscovery of resilience, strength, and courage, and an affirmation of parenting purpose. "Soul Mothers' Wisdom" helps the woman parenting on her own understand that she can create the life she wants and become the woman she desires to be, transforming challenges into opportunities and solutions, chaos into calm, and discovering (or re-discovering) all she has to offer to her children and her self. Mental health professionals agree--children have a better chance of becoming emotionally healthy adults when their mothers' choices are guided by the wisdom that emanates from a solid core of self, i.e., "soul." "Soul Mothers' Wisdom: Seven Insights for the Single Mother "offers single mothers the knowledge, counseling and affirmation to help them and their children thrive. "This is a fine book full of support for single parents who have to face the job of raising children alone, and having to share them with another caregiver when they return to work," says T. Berry Brazelton, M.D., former host of the Emmy-award-winning show "What Every Baby Knows." "I would advise all single mothers to read it." "The responsibilities of single mothers can be daunting," adds Jeffrey K. Zeig, Ph.D., director of The Milton Erickson Foundation. ""Soul Mothers' Wisdom" provides inspiring counsel to help them flourish. The stories and insights provide unique resources that will foster a stronger sense of self and more fluid access to inner resources. Practical and eminently readable, "Soul Mothers' Wisdom "offers a path for single mothers -- and fathers -- to reclaim their identities, and improve the lives of those who depend on them."

Joseph LeDoux argues that ideas like the self are increasingly barriers to discovery and understanding. He offers a new framework, theorizing four realms of existence--bodily, neural, cognitive, and conscious. Together, these four realms operate continuously as an "ensemble of being" to make humans who and what we are.
