How to release anger and reconnect to yourself using mindfulness techniques. Anger is one the most common human emotions, so if you’re not feeling it, then you’re probably unconsciously burying it. But anger that is buried isn’t actually gone. In fact, hidden or covert anger may be just as damaging as the overt, outwardly destructive kind, only it wreaks havoc from the inside-out. All sorts of physical and emotional problems can stem from suppressed anger: headaches, digestive problems, insomnia, just to name a few. Buried anger is expressed in a continuum, with rage and aggression at the top, and frustration, annoyance, irritation at the bottom, and everything in between. Unless this anger is addressed, it is impossible to overcome. This book urges readers to practice mindfulness-deliberately allowing physical sensations and emotions to surface so they can be examined and released. This sort of processing of anger-fully felt in the body as it happens, moved out through appropriate expression, and let go-will allow readers to process anger before it becomes unhealthy. Whether for you or your clients, this book offers simple tools of mindfulness to strengthen your connection with your inner world and learn to explore your anger, paying heed to the important messages it is sending.

I very much know that when we or our loved ones are going through some tough experiences, like a prolonged sickness, what we want to hear and what we want to know is that God still cares--to feel His closeness and to know He knows what we are going through. We want to know that God hears our prayers even in the middle of the night when no one else is there. What I strongly believe is that not a single prayer slips by God, because there's no time of day He isn't listening. God heard you ten years ago, and He heard you last week, and He hears you right now, and He's already listening for your tomorrow. In fact, He's listening so well, He already knows what you're going to say. I also know very well that God never says, "Oops." God is in control of the trials. God is not on his throne wringing his hands as he waits for the outcome of events. Take from it me, my friend: no matter how dysfunctional your background, how broke or broken you are, where you are today, or what anyone else says, you matter to our living God.

Anger is a natural emotion - and a part of what makes us human. But when you lose control of your anger, it can get in the way of meaningful relationships, successful careers, and ultimately, feelings of happiness and enjoyment. In this highly anticipated book, renowned mindfulness expert and author of Calming Your Anxious Mind Jeff Brantley offers a breakthrough approach using mindfulness - based stress reduction (MBSR) and compassion practices to help you better handle the anger, fear, and hostile emotions that can wreak havoc at home, work, and in relationships. In addition, you will also learn important self - awareness skills to help you stop overreacting and improve communication with others. While other self - help books focus on traditional anger management, Brantley offers solutions that give you personal control over the experience of anger in your life. Inside, you'll discover the three major meditative approaches to soothing anger: stabilizing mind and body through concentrating your attention mindfully; using compassionate attention and reflection to disarm the energy of your anger; and learning to use wise understanding about the impermanent and ''conditioned'' nature of your angry reactions in order to diminish your vulnerability to anger's power. If you have difficulty with anger, you may be quick to blame others or act in aggressive ways. Unfortunately, this kind of thinking can often leave you feeling alone, alienated, and unhappy. If you are ready to make real, lasting changes, this book can provide you with the skills needed to manage and and transform your anger so that you can live a happier, healthier life.

Blowing Out The Darkness takes a new look at emotional management. In reading this book, be prepared for an unusual and thought-provoking challenge as well as practical tools for the management of emotional life issues, especially anger and rage. The book offers practical tools for the resolution of emotional difficulties, especially those of depression, anger and rage. It provides in-depth discussion of the skills one can use in conflict, especially when the other person is non-cooperative. The identification and living of ones values are emphasized. Additionally, the book provides a philosophic and practical perspective on the underlying processes of emotional maturity. It contends that a fundamental loss to our society has occurred with our emphasis on technology and objectivity, with the consequent devaluing of the skills of subjectivity. The skills of subjectivity are explored in detail and proposed as providing a place of healing, both for individuals and for society as a whole. We can live our lives differently; we can have a more effective society. Quotations from clients who have attended the workshop: SC, a 48-year-old woman with years of drug abuse and violent crimes. So over the years I have gone to anger management programs, psychiatrists and psychologists to talk about my problem. Honestly, none of this helped. For almost two years now, I have been working with Dave I no longer think about not living, or harming others. Sure I still get angry, I am human. I know exactly what to do with the energy when it isnt appropriate. JS, a probation officer with more than 25 years experience, who has indicated that only two of about sixty of his clients has re-offended after attending my weekend workshop. As a former client, and as a Probation Officer who has referred numerous clients to Dr. MacQuarrie over the past fifteen years, my focus is on results. The initial results I observe in clients (and this is true of my own experience as well) are --- surprisingly --- something intangible. There is just something different. MP, a 47-year-old truck driver, deeply caught in frequent raging. I had seen therapists before, numerous times. Have they helped? No, I walked out feeling more confused than when I walked in. No therapist has ever gotten into my head and to the root of my anger like David has. Dr Ronald Potter-Efron, MSW, PhD, author of The Handbook Of Anger Management "Dr. MacQuarrie's book is a wonderful blend of psychology with philosophy. He utilizes well-designed metaphors and makes unexpected connections (e.g., "Energy is stored in two locations: story and muscles") to detail his model of healthy human functioning. Dr. MacQuarrie argues fearlessly in favor of full expression of affect in an era increasingly suspicious of intense emotionality. In addition, he provides interesting examples as well as relevant personal experiences, both of which add to the integrity of the volume."
