Reiser, Consular Clerk and Sworn Translator of the English Language at Stettin. He made the necessary alterations in both the text and the auxiliary notes, eliminated obsolete terms and introduced such as are more in accordance with the present time. Further he thoroughly revised and augmented the part con taining the dictionary of mercantile terms and added some original letters about Banking Transactions, charter-parties, Bills of Lading, Affidavits and Protests. On the whole the former principle, according to which the one volume of each Part forms the key to the other, has essentially been retained in the present edition. As regards, now, the preper Aim and Purpose of our Commercial Correspondence, we may refer in general to the remarks and suggestions with which the former editions were prefaced. It has been compiled and elaborated particularly for the purpose of giving young men the opportunity to practise and perfect themselves in Mercantile Correspondence; even should they be little acquainted with the English Language, our work will enable them to study Commercial Style.
