It provides detailed statistical information to inform the nation on the current nature of crime in schools. This edition of Indicators contains the most recent available data on school crimes and safety drawn from a number of statistical series supported by the federal government. These data include results from a study of violent deaths in school, sponsored by the U.S. Dept. of Education and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the 1999 School Crime to Supplement to the National Crime Victimization Survey, which is conducted by the Census Bureau.
