This book raises theological questions about the salvific meaning of suffering in the light of Mt.25:31-46. Taking the oppressed women of Maher (NGO, Pune, India) as its starting point the book highlights the significance of Christ from socio-economic-religious perspective. This is done by presenting the Christological contributions of two leading theologians of India, namely Samuel Rayan and Raimon Panikkar with the aim of presenting Christ relevantly in the multi-religious context. Since suffering is unavoidable, the author proposes that teachings like Kenosis (self-emptying) and Nishkama Karma (selfless action) can help believers of diverse belief-traditions to cope with suffering.

Most books on spiritual formation focus on the individual. But spiritual formation is at the heart of the church's whole purpose for existence. It must be a central task for the church to carry out Christ's mission in the world. This book offers an introduction to spiritual formation set squarely in the local church. The first edition has been well received and widely used as a textbook. The second edition has been updated throughout, incorporates findings from positive psychology, and reflects an Augustinian formation perspective. Foreword by Dallas Willard.
