Excerpt from Checklist of Indexed Periodicals HE purpose of this checklist is primarily to assist librarians in completing I and cataloging the sets of periodicals indexed in the various standard periodical indexes published in this country. So far as possible, a con sistent plan has been followed, bringing together under the latest title the various publications issued under different names but which are actually the same periodical. Those who have had experience in cataloging magazines will realize the difficulty of determining the historical continuity when two periodicals have been consolidated into one. It is hoped that the checklist may help librarians to complete and arrange the sets of indexed periodicals especially adapted to refer ence work.
